Canine Nutrition Study Update Howl!   27 comments

xcaninenutrition-jpg-pagespeed-ic-b_yfmicn6eCanine Nutrition Study Update Howl: It is finished! Finally!! 😀Thank you to everybody who was kind enough to participate in this final battle to complete my canine psychology course. (It has been a major battle and far too time consuming lol) Your help was invaluable and greatly appreciated. 🙂 I have a very impressive array of Excel charts and tables full of interesting facts drawn from the information you all generously supplied. And as originally stated, no personal information was included at any point. This was just about facts.

I seem to have exceeded the 2,500 words that were suggested in the guidelines for this study…. more like 4,500 words!! 😜However, Ixfotolia_38488999_xs-jpg-pagespeed-ic-53y3pnod_o am told there is no upper word limit so I presume that was the minimum figure…then again lol 17 pages may strike my tutor as rather excessive!! 😉 But there are lots of charts, tables and illustrations and a fair amount of “white space” due to chart and table space constraints so hopefully I will get away with this excess!

It seems likely that new printer cartridges and the purchase of more paper will be necessary before I can get this study printed out and then there will be a few weeks to wait before I hear back from the college. Hopefully I will get an A+ and pass this course with a distinction and a 50-gun salute!! On the other hand, this final part may be returned to me with a “flea in my ear” for afflicting them with such a marathon study, and strict instructions to redo it in a smaller format! 🤔That said I have taken a lot out of it already to reduce the size – there’s a lot to say about what makes up a balanced diet for a dog, what dogs need nutritionally…. what long/short term impact does a poor diet have on the dog…not to mention feeding methods, quality of foods…. etc. etc.

So! I will update you good pack members lol with the latest howl when I receive feedback and know what is what. I received top grades for the rest of the course so thanks to your assistance with this study and with a bit of luck this final grade will match the rest. In the meantime, I am now free to return to your blog pages! It has been a long time coming and I look forward to joining you all properly again. 😃 Have a great day/evening or night! Depending on location and time zone! 😎

HoooOOOOWWWWwwwLLLLLout To All Dog Owners :)   35 comments

HoooOOOOOoWWWwwwwLLLLLLooooOut!!!! 🙂

HoooooOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWLLLLLLLLout for assistance from any willing dog owners!

Icewolfie is studying on a Canine Psychology (K9 behaviour training) course. Part of it includes a “special study” which in my case is on K9 nutrition (can have big impact on behaviour ) I have to do a survey and I need your help if you’re a friend with a dog! … 3 short questions: 1) What food do you feed your dog? 2)Why did you choose this diet? 3) How often do you feed your dog daily? No personal details will be included. I just need to create a comparison chart as part of the study and need lots of people involved! Breed and gender would be great too if you feel inclined 😊 Howling thanks to you all in hopeful anticipation 😀🐶❤

I am not having much joy so far! Short of standing in the middle of London in the freezing cold hassling strangers who might punch me 😉 I will have no choice but to “blag it” if I can’t persuade some of you to help!!! It will also speed up the process in which I can get back to posting and visiting again…as you know this woefully poor on my part at the moment! 🙂

Another Earth? Exoplanet Kelper-452b   32 comments

What Would it Be Like to Live on Earth’s Cousin?

The discovery of Kelper 452b was announced on 23/05/15, and is 1,400 Light years away.

An alien experience!

Exoplanet Kelper 452-b is 60% wider than Earth and approximately 5x as massive so much stronger surface gravity.

This provides for a great workout! For the manly among us this essentially means it will make you much stronger 🙂

For everybody chilling on this Earth cousin, the higher gravity would probably lead to significant body changes long term – e.g. becoming stockier built. This is probably not a plus if you’re already on the stocky side…you may become very short and squat…like a rotund garden gnome 😉

A Familiar Experience

As this world’s sun is roughly the same distance away as on Earth, the light factor would be much the same as on our home-world and Earth plants transported to its cousin-world could photosynthesis the same as on Earth.

So Kelper 452-b is similar to Earth but not the same. Its sun is 6 billion years old whereas our Sun is only 4.5 billion years old. Kelper 452-b’s sun is at a far more energetic life-stage therefore it is hotter. And it is about 10% larger and 20% brighter in the sky. Not bad for the sun tan then 😉

Kelper 452-b completes one orbit every 385 days so it’s year is only about 20 days longer than Earth’s. Pretty much home from home.

“…substantial opportunity for life to arise, should all the necessary ingredients and conditions for life exist on this planet.”

Elusive Martians   11 comments

A very cool post from Beyond the Sphere re the Black Wolves of Mars! Many thanks for the mention Tom 🙂 If you enjoy this post do check out the unique and wonderfully imaginative experience at Beyond the Sphere!

The Mansionic Perspective

Driving around a dusty old planet looking for anything unusual, anything really out of the ordinary, takes its toll. Day after day of dry, red clay, and amber skies followed by freezing cold nights adds to the monotony. With large and very still dusty plains, and mountains that offer hardly any protection, yet also comfort in the hope that there may be something – someone – just beyond, would be enough for anyone to get the next shuttle out. Not me.

I’ve missed the last five shuttles now. The next one is due in December. It’s just me and these Martian elements – if you can call them that.

Lucky for me, I live inside this mobile home. Reinforced steel and glass; recycled air and water, rehydrated food, and a strong resistance to the boredom.

There’s something else that keeps me here. The solitude. The beauty of this alien world…

FireWolves of Io   26 comments

Howling New Moonshine….

Spirit of the FireWolves…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Howling new moonshine tumbling and stealing across the contrasting volcanic world of Io’s Fire wolves. Half hidden in the new moon shadows they gathered in moon dark silhouettes amongst the volcanic mountain ranges, calling the song of the stars, drawing on the fiery heart of the pack to call home the Fire wolves of Io, adorned in the mighty colours of the volcanic fire breed. The “Watcher at the Window” gazed in alluring fascination at the mountains peaks of Io bejewelled in the spectacular rainbow arrays of black and gold, catching too the starlight dancing in the gold-fire eyes of the Fire wolves of Io, bathed in the new moon darkness gliding around craters and dark plains.

Vaults and Catacoombs and the Champagne Eurostar Terminal!   14 comments

Beyond the Catacombs

Vaults and Catacoombs and the Champagne Eurostar Terminal!!!

As you probably won’t recall seeing as we haven’t visited the disused Eurostar station at London Waterloo for some time now, Wolfie was not at all successful in attempting to breach security and find a way into the forbidden realms of Waterloo International…consequently Wolfie went for a walk…under the happy delusion this might act as a useful distraction from the frustrations of the day. That didn’t actually work terribly well either but the day did take some interesting turns non-the-less.

20150917_143551 (6)

First stop after wandering round the outside areas eyeing up the building site that appeared to be the top scene around that part of the station and some pretty fearsome looking security, involved a scenic stroll along the River Thames….suitably non-distracting and Wolfie naturally graduated back towards Waterloo and found herself padding into the Leake Street tunnel under or vaguely under – not entirely sure about that little detail, where the graffiti festival thingy had taken place deep in the catacoombs….as mentioned in a previous post…probably showing in the related posts section at the end of this post…or not as the case maybe.

20150917_143105 (3)20150917_143510(2)

It was somewhat quieter on this occasion and business as usual…new graffiti had sprouted up to cover much of the previous, as is the way with graffiti matters.

20150917_143324 (3)

20150917_14385920150917_143951(2)20150917_143931(2)

Wolfie was however curious about the hole in the tunnel wall… apparently known as “The Vault.” Yes….granted it says “Gallery….Kitchen….” but no kitchen was to be found!

20150917_143751(2)20150917_143831 (4)20150917_143809 (5)20150917_143809 (3)

Naturally an exploration was necessary….

20150917_143751(6)20150917_143706(2)

That done what else was there to do in the absence of access to Waterloo’s disused Eurostar station but to jump on the Tube and go investigate the new and very much in-use new Eurostar Station at Kings Cross-St Pancreas!

20150917_154939 (3)20150917_154853(7)

Now at this point there is always the curious question of….where do those escalator stairs lead to! They are going down…to lower levels…those lower levels are still functioning…Wolfie would like to have a look!! Trouble is Wolfie couldn’t smash through the ground to ceiling glass even for photos…so not much help taking mind off Waterloo’s inaccessible zones Winking smile So! maybe we should go for the apocalyptic look just to remind ourselves this whole exercise is really about Waterloo Eurostar….

20150917_154945 (13)20150917_155744(5)

Well that was interesting wasn’t it? Winking smile

20150917_155346(4)20150917_155357 (5)

Yes…well…all very interesting….and very posh compared to Waterloo…very nice Eurostar trains….and a very fancy shopping area….and some very large clocks! Why two clocks in one place anyway!! Still…I have it on good authority St Pancreas International does not have anywhere near the quantity of shops or space to relax in in the Eurostar section, as apparently there was at Waterloo International 🙂 Good!! Not that I’ve ever found a way into the lower levels to check that out but…..!!

But there’s always another time!

2015 in review   18 comments

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. They hid it well and didn’t tell me! It took the Pack a whole night’s hunting to track it down and it certainly wasn’t in my email account!! A manual adjustment of the 2014 version’s URL dragged it screaming into the open but they didn’t send it to me!! Why WordPress?!! Everyone else got theirs! What did you do with Icewolf’s email!! Anyway…big thank you’s to all who have viewed my blogski in 2015 🙂 And a special thank you to my visitors from Germany which this year ranked in the top 3 countries to visit my blog! Very kind of you Germany 🙂 Do come back again this year! And to all my wonderful friends and visitors…Happy New Year 2016! 🙂

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 33,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 12 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Splodge and Splatter

For more details relating to this post, please visit Icewolf’s site by clicking HERE. Space exploration, black holes, vortices, meteor showers and …Mansions? are all included. What in space is happening?

Bursts of phosphorus white (which appear green) bubbles burst out from the turbulence of the transformation of the black hole into a vortex. The bubbles are then swallowed back within as the vortex morphs again into a black hole. The energy displacement is immense, creating swathes of sulphur and oxygen-rich clouds which dance rhythmically with all the toing and froing.

At the point of the black hole snapping itself shut, plumes of dust and gas are sent hurtling out into the far reaches of the galaxy. Some of these particles bind together, and as they freeze on their outward journey, they speed away like miniature comets. Where they end up is anyone’s guess.

As the vortex forces itself…
