Howling New Moonshine….

Spirit of the FireWolves…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Howling new moonshine tumbling and stealing across the contrasting volcanic world of Io’s Fire wolves. Half hidden in the new moon shadows they gathered in moon dark silhouettes amongst the volcanic mountain ranges, calling the song of the stars, drawing on the fiery heart of the pack to call home the Fire wolves of Io, adorned in the mighty colours of the volcanic fire breed. The “Watcher at the Window” gazed in alluring fascination at the mountains peaks of Io bejewelled in the spectacular rainbow arrays of black and gold, catching too the starlight dancing in the gold-fire eyes of the Fire wolves of Io, bathed in the new moon darkness gliding around craters and dark plains.

When the Moon Meets the Sun   70 comments

“A New Moon is a brand new doorway to walk through…

Wherever you are in the world, if you will look to the sky, the only light you will see up there, are softly twinkling stars.

moondoor

The night before New Moon, is known as the night of the balsamic moon.  It is a time that focuses on confidence, creativity and generosity, a time that may bring about a desire for contemplation and preparation. We are here on Earth at this time in history to be agents of change and growth.  Discard what no longer serves your life.  Re-balance yourself.  Know yourself.

Most importantly, remember that we all need our “dark time”— the time we are not visible, where we are softly planning and nurturing our knowledge in a quiet and private space.  The space where intuition grows.

Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.
~ John O’Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

You have the chance to explore your sense of self and discover something new about who you are. Don’t be afraid to be who you are. Trying to be anyone else is a waste of your beautiful, unique spirit.

This the gift of the dark, balsamic moon. – enjoy!

newMoonThere is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.

The Magic of the Moon song –

When the Moon meets the Sun on a late summer’s night.

Icewolf - When the Moon Meets the SunThe Star-born of Europa_cool embrace of another world

A Polaris moon spun gently in alien star- blue wolf eyes… A galaxy of possibilities swirling around a spinning polarity solarised by the dull orange-gold glow of a fiery, giant sun. Glowing embers of sun-forged fire woke, rotating slowly along the ever spinning lines of polarity. Even a small switch in the bands of polarity would change the outcome for the viewer in a Nano-second, transforming their perception of the universe in the blink of an ice wolf’s eye, exchanging ember-red-giant sun for its exact solar opposite; defined by the red shifts, and the rainbow of possibilities that mirrored the visions of the future, and the “Labyrinth of the Night” (Labyrinthis Noctis) where the black wolves of Mars were born.

Behind her lay the roiling Jovian storm clouds bruised and darkly brooding, driven on by screaming winds and the occasional howl. Ahead, glowing embers of the red-giant sun, its remnants burning red-gold against the skeletal silhouettes of shadowy black tree trunks.

The stars called softly. There was a thrill in the night sky. The Star born of Europa shivered elatedly in glittering, timeless shards of planetary-light pillows in the new moon mist gliding across the regolith. A magical qualitative excited her senses twinkling in darkness and light and the cool embrace of another world, on the rim of the galaxy, cooling the contours of the high-modern architecture.

Soft New moon winds shimmered with elfin light through moon darkened whiskers, tickling her senses with a New moon night’s perception. It created in her an eagerness to step up into the drifting alienness of the night’s cool New moon, mysterious and gothic in the magic of the last nights of late summer’s golden glow and the first hints of early autumn’s onset; the sounds of the night a haunting interstellar music that stirred distant memories; and she gazed into the past and the future, a thousand worlds away.

Titanium Moon   37 comments

Precious treasure on Earth’s Moon!

The perfect place to purchase that outrageously expensive gift of precious jewellery to win over the treasured love of your life gentlemen!

Guaranteed Result!!

(Wolfie knows these things…!! 😉 )

clip_image002

Introduction

Thanks to the US Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and one of its onboard cameras a brand new Moon map has been successfully fashioned.

The results show that the Moon has there is a vast quantity of titanium ore which has proved to be as much as 10 times richer than that found on our home planet. It reached this conclusion by analysing the titanium ore on the Moon’s surface in seven different light wavelengths during an extensive scan.

Exciting news! This could be the forerunner of a future mining colony on the Moon!

clip_image004

Moon Shades of Titanium

“Looking up at the Moon , it’s surface appears painted with shades of grey, at least to the human eye. But with the right instruments the Moon can appear colourful.” ~ Mark Robinson of Arizona State University.

clip_image006

clip_image008

The maria (lunar plains) can appear reddish in some places and blue in others. Although subtle, these colour variations can tell us important things about the chemistry and evolution of the lunar surface. They indicate the titanium and iron abundance, as well as the maturity of a lunar soil.”

~ Mark Robinson of Arizona State University

Consequential Worth of Titanium

Titanium is a highly significant and intensely hunted metal because:

• It has extraordinarily weightless qualities

• It is at least as strong as steel if not more so.

Consequently Titanium can safely said to be a VERY pricey metal!

clip_image010

Titanium in the Lunar Maria

Titanium discovered on the Moon in the ilmenite compound is, on our home-world only traceable in around a microscopic one percent of comparable ores. The lunar highlands contain approximately the same minuscule amount as Earth.

The lunar maria however, based on this latest Moon map, show evidence of one percent – 10 percent of Titanium – an immense amount by comparison to Earth’s supplies.

clip_image012

"Lunar titanium is mostly found in the mineral ilmenite, a compound containing iron, titanium and oxygen," ~ Mark Robinson, and Brett Denevi of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, in Nantes, western France.

Future Lunar Colonies

In the future ilmenite could be broken down by Lunar Miners who would both live and work on the surface of the Moon to release the iron, titanium and oxygen contained in the ilmentite compound.

Also, particles contained in the solar wind, including helium and hydrogen particles can be very efficiently contained by titanium-rich minerals, according to Apollo data.

In terms of future lunar settlements and their human populations helium and hydrogen gases would be an essential and highly valued resource.

If you have got this far down the page and STILL not wooed the treasured love of your lives gentlemen you clearly DIDN’T “Shoot for the Moon” and only have yourselves to blame!

We ladies like to be spoilt….Wolfie knows all about that!

So! If you’re still hanging around reading this JUMP TO IT! Shoot for the Moon!

Off you go now…toddle off! We are waiting!!

Moon-Wolf Watching (©2010 Revised Re-Post)   47 comments

Moon Watch Wolf

Copyright Europa’s Icewolf – All Rights Reserved

Moon_Ice_Wolves_thumb11

Moon-shadows crept across the ice and snow capturing the White-cloud wolf, Moon-dog of Europa in incandescent emission rays, holding her motionless in the extra-terrestrial night. Moon-wolf watching. She stood quiet and dreaming lost in worlds beyond the imagination, distant, faraway, dreaming always dreaming. Moon-Watch wolf, reflecting the icy allure of the Europan home-world.

The sudden dazzling burst of stabbing moon rays jettisoning through star-black sky called to wolf blood and in answer to its compelling life call she raised her head to the cosmos calling the haunting song of the Moon-wolf on a frozen world of ice. Silver-coated Moon-wolf, the caller of the Moon-song. The voice of the stars as the cosmos rolled inexorably onwards looking always forwards never back. Moon-wolf watching.

Full alien moon shining huge against the back drop of ice-blue sky. Glowing male white-cloud wolf treading almost silently apart from the quiet crunch of fresh ice snow breaking under wary Ice-wolf paw. He paused momentarily, Europa’s alpha-male wolf silhouetted against the silvered moon hanging in surreal, splendid virtual reality. He watched her, she-wolf shimmering in the life and vitality contained in the silence of the moon shadows, flaring azure eyes flashing ice cold star power.

She spun in the moon-zone dancing to the beat of the Moon wolves song, time turning in a new dimension in the night-lit show that transcended anything seen in the star-zones, a flickering aurora of multi-coloured dreams on the moon-world’s edge. Moon-watch wolf, silvered white diamond-dancer. Moon-watch wolf alive in the silent beauty of the ice world moon-song. Forever Ice-wolf, forever Moon-watch caller.

MoonWatchWolf2

Moon-watch wolf forever on a frozen world of ice.

Look deep into the eyes of a Moon-wolf, see the beauty of forever echoed in the soul-spirit of the wolf song.

A Scorched World-Kelper-10B And Host Star

Kelper 10b Scorched World    Imagined canyon on Planet Kelper 10b

Scorched And Blistered – The World of Planet Kelper-10B

Planet Kepler-10b is a scorched blistering world, orbiting at a distance that’s more than 20 times closer to its star than Mercury is to our own Sun and takes less than one Earth day to orbit its star. The daytime temperature’s expected to be more than 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, hotter than lava flows here on Earth, hot enough to melt iron! Intense radiation from the star has kept the planet from holding onto an atmosphere. Flecks of silicates and iron may be boiled off a molten surface and swept away by the stellar radiation, much like a comet’s tail when its orbit brings it close to the Sun.

The Kepler team has determined that Kepler-10b who’s discovery was announced in Jan. 2011 is a rocky planet, with a surface you could stand on, a mass 4.6 times that of Earth, and a diameter 1.4 times that of Earth and an average density of 8.8 grams per cubic centimetre – similar to that of an iron dumbbell. It is the smallest exoplanet – a planet located outside our solar system (dark spot against yellow sun) and the first concrete evidence of a solid rocky planet orbiting a star other than our Sun discovered to date.

Imagined view from Kelper 10b Kelper 10-b orbiting it's host star Kelper-9

“One day, the oceans we cross will be the galaxy itself, but for now, we imagine the worlds we discover…”

        KeplerArtistConcept_Family Portrait

The Kepler-10 star system is located about 560 light-years from our solar system. Planet Kepler-10b orbits one of the 150,000 stars that the Kelper spacecraft is monitoring with a 42 strong array of detectors aimed between the constellations of Cygnus and Lyra and just above the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The star itself (Kelper 9)is very similar to our own sun in temperature, mass and size, but older with an age of over 8 billion years, compared to the 4-and-1/2 billion years of our own sun. . It’s one of the brighter stars that Kepler is monitoring and is a quiet star, slowly spinning with a weak magnetic field and few of the sun spots that characterize our own sun. It was the first star identified as potentially harbouring a very small transiting planet. The transits of the planet were first seen in July of 2009.

Artists concept of Kelper 10- Saturn sized planets

In May 2011, the Kepler team is announced another member of the Kepler-10 family, called Kepler-10c. It’s bigger than Kepler-10b with a radius of 2.2 times that of Earth’s, and it orbits the star every 45 days. Both planets would be blistering hot worlds. The Kepler-10 star system is the first star system found to have multiple transiting planets.

Mythology of the Stars   22 comments

Interstellar Mythology…Star Myths

The stars, remote but also familiar, have been a source of fascination us throughout history and are an integral part of many myths and legends. Early references to the Greek constellations mythological significance are found in the works of Homer, dating back to around the 7th century B.C

                          deep_sky_big_dipper

“Children of the sun and moon” is the way The Paiute of North America refer to the stars. They consider the sun loves to eat his children, based on the stars disappearing at sunrise. They say the moon, is the mother of the stars, who dances happily across the sky with them. To the Yakut of Siberia, see the stars as crystal windows giving the gods opportunity to look upon earth. The Turko-Tatar, tent-dwellers of Central Asia view the sky as a large tent covering earth, and the stars tiny holes in it.

Myths of the Milky Way.

The Milky Way, the faint band of light visible in the sky on clear dark nights, runs along the line of the galactic equator, marking the centre of the galaxy to which our solar system belongs. It consists of a combination of the light of a vast array of stars, and in areas clouds of obscuring interstellar gas and dust.

      milkyway Our_Location_Milky_Way milky_wayA

One Peruvian tradition, believes the Vilcanota River is a reflection of the Milky Way and water constantly circulates back and forth between the river and the heavens. In the minds of The Navajo the Milky Way was created by “Coyote” a con artist who using a blanket threw and scattered in a huge arc, in the sky, an array of sparkling stone chips to form a pathway between heaven and earth.

           Vilcanota_Rivernavajo xibalba

The Maya considered the Milky Way to be the road to Xibalba, the underworld. Native Americans believed the Milky Way was the path the souls of the dead walked. According to the Southern African Zulu and Ndebeles the stars are the ancestor’s eyes, watching over them.

Constellations and Individual Stars in Myths.

By the 5th century B.C., most of the constellations were connected to myths, “At this stage, the fusion between astronomy and mythology is so complete that no further distinction is made between them” (the Catasterismi of Eratosthenes)

In Chinese mythology gods such as the god of literature and the god of long life, were connected with the stars.

god of literature god of longlife

In Greek mythology Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan, Atlas and the ocean nymph Pleione. Zeus placed them in the sky to protect them from Orion the hunter. But Orion became a constellation and continued to chase the Pleiades across the heavens. The Inuit of northern Greenland considered Orion a series of steps in a great bank of snow linking earth and heaven.

                                         pleiadesatlas

Mythology, influenced the naming of many objects in the night sky, including planets. Their Roman mythological name reflected their characteristics

In Norse mythology Venus was originally the toe of the hero Aurvandil. Thor carried Aurvandil out of Giantland across the river Elivagar. En-route, one of Aurvandil’s toes froze, so breaking it off Thor threw it into the sky. To the Greeks, Venus was Hesperus, grandfather of the goddesses called Hesperides. She who guarded the golden apples of eternal life on western sea

            Surface_of_VenusThor planet-venus

Even the names of the Galilean moons of Jupiter (the four largest). Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto were all desired–and taken by force–by Jupiter. Ironically the mythological women the king of the gods so fervently pursued now revolve around him.

SETI Project   13 comments

“SETI  Project”
The Search For Extra Terrestrial Intelligence
There are 100billion trillion planets that can host life.  Researchers have studied the conditions necessary to support life and calculated there could be between 361 and 38,000 ‘intelligent civilisations’ on other planets although what  form they would take remains unknown.  It is ‘inevitable that Earth-like planets exist and that we will find a planet able to support life, possibly within the next 4 years.

The chances of finding intelligent life are only fleeting because in terms of the universe it only exists for a fraction of time.  Extra Terrestrial life could be living unnoticed amongst us right now because it would consist of microbes and DNA structure that humans would not recognise.

SETI researchers aren’t actually looking for the Extra Terrestrials themselves; they are hunting for evidence of their technology.  They do this by scanning the skies for radio or light signals that would tell us that creatures of high enough intelligence to build a transmitter on a high-powered laser, exist out there.  These experiments try to detect intelligence hundreds or thousands of light-years away, and because of that considerable distance any immediate concerns that the SETI quest might be dangerous can be ruled out.

The reasons for doing this, given that any signals discovered would be from life we will probably never meet:

            • We might learn something.
            • We would know we are not alone – of great philosophical importance
            • Knowing there is other intelligent life out there would also answer the question of how likely is it that a planet with life that would produce intelligent life.

SETI@HOME:  The SETI home project has been running since May 1999. It was the first project to analyse a vast amount of data, in this case gathered by radio telescopes around the world, by cutting it into packets of data (work units) and sending to millions of idle computers connected to the Internet, where it is analysed by downloadable software that operates on your computer as a screensaver.

  SETI@home screen saver at work

Once analyzed results are sent via the internet back to the project HQ in Berkeley and another work unit is down-loaded onto your PC.  The screen saver looks for signals of various narrow bandwidths and pulse rates, and signals that might drift slowly up or down the dial.  If it’s your PC that finds that signal, then you will be the first person in all history to prove the existence of intelligent beings.

To get involved in actually doing SETI research log on to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Fill in your details and take a few moments to download Uni of California at Berkeley’s popular screen saver, SETI@home.

The next generation SETI@home is 500 times more powerful than anything anyone has done before.  That means we are 500 times more likely to find ET than with the original SETI@home.
